This weekend: ‘The Art and Science of Gems’ by Van Cleef & Arpels opens at ArtScience Museum

Discover the artistic skills that come into motion in the creation of fine jewellery at ‘Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art and Science of Gems’. Running from 23 April to 14 August 2016, the exhibition is a fascinating and educational blend of art, craft, history and geoscience. It will feature over 400 pieces of jewellery, each carefully selected from the Van Cleef & Arpels Collection and those of private collectors, reflecting the sophistication and elegance as well as unique expertise of the Maison.

 

At the Minerals and Gems section, one will find important natural treasures and scientific artifacts from the world-renowned Minerals and Gems Collection of the French national Museum of Natural History in Paris. You will definitely be in for a dazzling display, ranging from the oldest meteorites and diamonds, to more recent gems, including the largest quartz crystal ever found in the Alps that weighs more than 800 kilograms. 

 

The largest exhibition the Maison has even done, let them bring you on a visual and in-depth journey at ‘Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art and Science of Gems’, and delve into the origins of minerals and their extraordinary transformation through stunning craftsmanship into works of art. ‘Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art and Science of Gems’ will run from 23 April to 14 August 2016 at the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
