The playing never stops, as Hautlence gets inventive with its Pinball novelty. The new creative wrist-wear, debuted at Baselworld 2017, explores a whole new dimension of time display combining the art of mechanical watchmaking and the escapism of gaming. What has caught our eyes is that the Hautlence Pinball isn’t a watch but a novelty that lets you stop the mad race of time and “unplug” for a few minutes as you immerse yourself in a fun game of Pinball. Just as how the Pinball machine functions, a lever on the right-hand side of the watch allows you to set the balls rolling. The lever includes a spring system linked to the movement which incorporates elements of the highly minute-repeater horological mechanism.
The Pinball runs on the basis of a mechanical automaton. When the ball is expelled, the star and the spin-wheel turn for around 10 seconds, propelling the ball randomly against the various bumpers, along the in-lanes or on the dial featuring coloured transfers, thus enabling the player to count the points he has scored. The dial also features strategic targets – if the player is successful in placing the ball there, he wins bonus points and the jackpot.
Yup, our childhood has never looked so good! Hautlence Pinball features a base dial in grade 5 titanium, fitted with a sapphire intermediate dial. The latter also serves to create a smooth surface to accelerate the speed of the ball, while instilling a sense of depth typical of the Neuchâtel-based brand. Keeping to its avant-garde approach, Hautlence plays with several dial levels to give a 3D effect to its timepiece. The case of the rectangular Pinball novelty is made of grade 5 titanium and decorated with alternating bead-blasted, polished and satin-finished surfaces.
The game is over when the ball is blocked at the base of the dial, in one of the apertures bearing points or in the garage zone. To restart, use the wrist to direct the ball back to the starting point.
