Hilton Group marked the debut of its largest hotel in Asia Pacific with the launch of the Hilton Singapore Orchard in February. Pan Pacific Hotels Group celebrated the opening of ParkRoyal Collection Kuala Lumpur in early June, bringing the ParkRoyal Collection brand to Malaysia. One of the first luxury hotel openings to kick off 2022’s exciting hospitality lineup was none other than Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen. Occupying the 67th to 79th floors of the colossal UpperHills skyscraper, the hotel offers scenic bird’s eye views of the bustling cityscape, including the Lotus Hill Park and Shenzhen Bay nearby. Chiang Mai welcomed Spanish hotel chain Melia in April as the first luxury hotel to open in the northern Thai city after the pandemic. The 5-star hotel is situated on the vibrant Charoen Prathet Road, overlooking the River Ping and the famous Night Bazaar. More than 135 years after the first Raffles hotel opened in Singapore, the hotel chain is set to open its second property in the country on Sentosa Island later this year. The resort and spa will be Singapore’s first all-villa hotel, comprising 62 villas in total—each with its own private pool and terrace area. Alila will be opening an eco-resort in Sabah’s northern coast this year, located just a 40-minute drive away from Kota Kinabalu.
