If you ever wondered what went on behind the scenes of iconic fashion design pioneers, their very own design studios would be the starting point of many great marks in fashion history. Well, fans of Yves Saint Laurent can rejoice, as the Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation will reopen in Paris next year as a permanent museum. And with this reopening comes a peek into the designer’s inner workings, as the couturier’s studio will be reconstructed for the first time, along with former couture salons.
Refurbished to replicate the style of Saint Laurent’s original couture house, the exhibition space will double in size. The museum will constantly update its display of pieces from the maison’s archives, which include some 5,000 garments, 15,000 accessories, along with thousands of sketches, photographs and other objects.
Stage designer Nathalie Criniere and interior designer Jacques Grance are heading the renovation, where both have worked on several art exhibitions since the foundation opened in 2004. The reopening of the museum in Paris is set for the fall of 2017, which also coincides with the inauguration of the Saint Laurent museum in Marrakech.
