‘Yayoi Kusama: Life Is The Heart Of A Rainbow’ opens in Singapore

Starting 10th June 2017, you’ll be able to discover 70 years of artistic obsession at the ‘Yayoi Kusama: Life Is The Heart Of A Rainbow’ exhibition in National Gallery Singapore. 


One of the world’s most well-known and influential artists, Yayoi Kusama’s signature dots, pumpkins and infinity rooms have captivated art lovers all around the world. But of course, beyond those installations that have dominated many a social media post, the exhibition will also shed light on her forays into a multitude of art mediums, including sculpture, collage, performance and video. Beginning with paintings from the 1950s, show-goers will go on a fascinating visual journey and observe the development of her key motifs and exploration of colour, form and space. 

“Her personal experiences – from growing up in Japan during World War II, to her success as an Asian female artist in New York and Europe in the 1960s and involvement in social movements of the late 1960s and 1970s – and the resulting art has amazed and inspired millions around the world,” says the museum in a statement.
