You’ve seen the movie, and perhaps even caught the productions on Broadway and West End—now watch the musical come to life in our very own city of Kuala Lumpur come June 2019. Having began its run at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End in 1986, The Phantom of the Opera interpreted the novel of the same name by Gaston Leroux in spectacular manner with its beautiful music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Charles Hart and Richard Stillgoe. Today, more than three decades on, it remains one of the most beloved musicals of all time.
We had a taste of the musical earlier this year with ‘An Evening with The Phantom of the Opera’, so it is high time for the full-fledged production to make its premiere in Malaysia. Set to be presented in Istana Budaya, The Phantom of the Opera will run for a limited season from 15 June 2019. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group, the touring production will star Jonathan Roxmouth as The Phantom and Meghan Picerno as Christine Daae.
The tickets are priced from RM204 onwards, and are now available for purchase at www.ticketcharge.com.my.
