THE SURIA KLCC EXPRESS TRAIN
How to find it: Centre Court
There’s a reason why The Polar Express remains one of the most loved Christmas flicks and luckily, there’s a similar train in town for you to recreate the experience. The life-sized Suria KLCC Express train isn’t just the centrepiece at the mall’s Centre Court that has been transformed into a magical wonderland—making it a great backdrop for photos—but it has a couple of tricks up its… conductor booth. Step into it to find a special red button to make the train light up with whistle sound effects. This one is for the ‘gram.
Psst… You can even download Suria KLCC’s Christmas-themed AR filters to take those photos. One of them includes a moving Suria KLCC ‘Polar Express’ Train Station in its background, along with snowflakes and beauty filter effects.
FESTIVE PHOTO BOOTH
How to find it: Centre Court
As you exit the conductor booth of the Suria KLCC Express Train, look to your left to spot a cosy corner, complete with a bench surrounded by white lamp posts and Christmas trees. It almost reminds us of a scene from Narnia. You don’t have to worry about bringing a selfie stick or getting a stranger to help take a photo for you and your loved ones because there’s a photo booth to take it for you.
SANTA’S COTTAGE
How to find it: Centre Court
When Santa isn’t busy with his elves in the workshop—which would be on the weekends—you can find him at Santa’s Cottage, hosting meet-and-greet sessions. Of course, his cottage is open to all guests, even when he’s not home. Not only does he have a snug corner, but the fireplace comes to life with just a wave of a hand, and you’ll be able to even hear the cackling flames. Try it for yourself!
TRAIN RIDES FOR KIDS
How to find it: Ramlee Mall, Level 1
While the Suria KLCC Express train doesn’t actually take you anywhere, physically, there is one over at Ramlee Mall that takes kids on a loop around the track at just RM8 per ticket. Where they go is up to their imagination, but for the adults, you’ll want to grab a couple of lovely photos at the nearby train station set-up. Even better, the proceeds from the train tickets go to the medical frontliners at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
INTERACTIVE AURORA LIGHTS
How to find it: Park Mall, Level G
Suria KLCC is particularly known for its huge Christmas tree facing the water fountains, but before you rush out through the doors to KLCC Park, take a moment with this light installation just steps away from said doors. These strings of neon-lit orbs aren’t just for show. Walk around it or wave at it, and you’ll see the colours change with every motion you make.
MALAYSIA’S TALLEST CHRISTMAS TREE REPLICA
How to find it: Esplanade
Standing at 100-feet tall, beneath Suria KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers, this is the ultimate magical spot where the festive spirit comes alive. Following the theme of the Suria KLCC Express, there’s even the head of a train popping out from the base of the tree. Whether you visit during the day or at night, it’ll still be quite a sight to see.
