Not too long after the release of Pokemon Go in 2016, rumours sparked like Floo powder thrown into a fireplace that the Harry Potter franchise would be the next to receive the augmented reality (AR) mobile game treatment. But fans were soon delivered a huge slice of disappointment when developers Niantic, Inc denied the hearsay. But perhaps it wasn’t entirely untrue as Pottermore has announced that the Potter-inspired mobile game is on its way.
Titled Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the game will have players exploring real-world neighbourhoods and cities across the globe to “learn and cast spells, discover mysterious artefacts and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters,” according to the announcement.
There’s no word yet as to when the game will be released but additional details will be unveiled in 2018. So best to get started on practising your wand flicks and swishes now.
