GSC to introduce a 270-degree panoramic theatre in 2019

Early this year, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) took show-goers on a ride with the opening 4DX theatres in Paradigm Mall, Johor Bahru—the country’s first cinema to feature the technology that brings movies to life through motion and environmental effects. Staying at the forefront of bringing novel experiences to the local cinema industry, GSC is set to introduce ScreenX next year, a 270-degree, panoramic screen theatre that will see films projected on three walls around the auditorium.

This technology comes from South Korea’s CJ 4DPlex, the same company that brought the 4DX theatre to Malaysia in partnership with GSC. Taking an immersive cinematic experience to the next level, ScreenX will extend the borders of a film to the side walls of the theatre, bringing audiences “into” the movie with 270-degree imagery.

The first ScreenX theatre in Malaysia will find home in GSC’s flagship cinema in 1 Utama Shopping Centre. Two more ScreenX theatres are in the pipeline for 2020. ScreenX currently has 147 theatres across 10 countries. For more information, visit the website.
