7 Things you can do in KL this long weekend: 19 – 21 January 2019

1. Regal Arts & Crafts Bazaar at Centre Court @ Pavilion KL, till 19 Feb 2019

Pavilion KL, as it usually does, has gone all out for the festive season. Theming it as “A Regal Celebration”, you’ll find the Centre Court (and the outdoor area) decked in the opulence of an imperial palace. Besides snapping photos, there are also activities for you to take part in. There’s an exhibition by Shiatzy Chen featuring 16 neo-Chinese ensembles as well as booths where you can do seal engraving, rainbow calligraphy and more.

For more info, visit their website.

2. RexKL Flower Market 2019 at RexKL @ Jalan Sultan, 3pm – 12am, 18 – 20 Jan 2019

From pop-up stores to a farmers’ market to workshops and lion dances, there’s going to be so much to see, do and eat at this three-week long event (don’t worry if you can’t make it this week). In addition, RexKL aims to bring back the flower market tradition to Jalan Sultan and Jalan Petaling so it’s definitely worth seeing what transpires at the space that was once Rex Cinema.

For more info, visit the event page.

3. Sunny Side Up Market Chinese New Year Edition 2019 at Slate at The Row, 11am – 6pm, 19 – 20 Jan 2019

Be it red coloured clothes or snacks for your upcoming house guests, you’ll find quite a number of things that will help you be CNY-ready.

For more info, visit the event page.

4. Drop off your unwanted clothes at Kechara Soup Kitchen

Have you been Marie Kondo-ing your closet and unsure of what to do with your unwanted clothes and shoes? For those that are still in good condition, you can drop them off at Kechara Soup Kitchen. For the rest, you can find the nearest Kloth bins where they’ll take the items to be recycled (there’s one at the Free Tree Society Nursery in Bangsar—available on Tuesday and Saturday mornings).

5. Chinese New Year festivities at Bon Estates Gallery @ Bangsar, 12pm – 6pm, 19 Jan 2019

From fortune tea reading to rainbow calligraphy to lou sangs to a pop-up bazaar, it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area.

For more info, visit their Facebook.

6. Make your reservation for a dinner with Guest Chef Sergio Meza at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur

Villanos en Bermudas. If that name sounds familiar, it’s only because it’s listed as #15 on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants and remains one of the hottest restaurants in Colombia. And come 24 – 26 January 2019, its co-founder Chef Sergio Meza will be in KL to take over the kitchen for The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur’s Guest Star Chef Series dinner.

The best way to describe Meza’s culinary flair is to quote him, “When people see Villanos en Bermudas as a fine dining restaurant, we want them to relate that to simplicity: we serve beans, bread, potatoes – the dishes Colombians eat at home every day. The only thing we change is the format, so we might put beans in a dessert or combine it with fruit in a way they would never imagine.”

Held in The Brasserie at the hotel, the 7-course menu will see highlights such as Shrimp with Vanilla, Macadamia and Pak Choy, Sole with Lettuce, Kale and Apple, Lamb with Beans, Avocado and Mustard and more.

The dinner will be priced at RM418+ per person or RM618+ per person with alcohol pairing. For more info or to make a reservation, call 03 2727 6666.
