7 Fun things you can do in KL this weekend: 8 & 9 June 2019

1. The Joke Factory presents Keelah Rose Calloway at Publika, 8.30pm – 10.30pm, 8 June 2019

Laughter is the best medicine, and stand-up comedy shows provide lots of that. You’ve probably heard of The Joke Factory by Harith Iskander. Well, this time, Keelah Rose Calloway is gracing the Kuala Lumpur stage, all the way from Southern California. Although relatively new to stand-up comedy (three and a half years, and counting), she has performed all over the world, from London to Hanoi to Hamburg to Warsaw. Her comedy chops were developed in the world of improv as a member of the Whistling Shrimp troupe at Cornell University. The multi-talented Keelah Rose Calloway will be here to get the room laughing.

Everyone knows about the #MeToo movement and how important it is, from encouraging women and men to speak up about their experiences to holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes. This exhibition is an ode to women and focuses on art in the the #MeToo era. This is also the first time that these three French contemporary artists—Veronique V, Christine, and JM Robertare—are showing in Malaysia, with works created and curated exclusively for this exhibition. Furthermore, this exhibition looks at the notion of feminism and feminity as well as explores the injustices women are facing or have faced. Come here to experience the stunning mix of mediums and colours as well as the deliverance of the apparent messages.
