A Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ animated movie is happening
...and she's narrating it!
Year in year out, it is the song that we have all committed to heart since Mariah Carey first introduced us to the catchy tune in 1994. Now it seems that production is underway for an animated movie based on the popular tune. Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You will be narrated and produced by none other than the singer herself. Mimi announced the project on social media earlier this morning.
“I am thrilled to be able to bring the story of the song to new generations of families,” said Mariah in a statement.
The film reportedly follows a young Mariah who becomes enthralled with a cute puppy named Princess at the pet store and suddenly knows exactly what she wants for Christmas. However, in order to prove to her parents that she knows what she’s getting into and can care for Princess, she needs to pet-sit Jack – a high-spirited dog who turns Mariah and her family’s holiday preparations into disarray. The movie’s plot is a follow-up to Mariah’s 2015 children’s book of the same name, which has sold over 750,000 copies to date.
Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You will be directed by Guy Vasilovich and voiced by Henry Winkler, Lacey Chabert, Breanna Yde, Phil Morris, Laya Hayes and Keiko Agena. The movie will premiere at the end of this year.
