If the mob and full-on riot that broke out outside his recent Off-White show in Paris is anything to go by, Virgil Abloh is possibly the most talked about designer at the moment, and certainly the most collaborative too. Just recently, the designer unveiled the first prototypes from his Ikea collection through a livestream session straight from New York, giving us a sneakpeak into the design process of the highly anticipated collaboration.
Named ‘Markerad’, the collection of homeware is aimed at millennials moving into their first homes, including slogan-covered rugs that double as tapestries, a display cabinet that’s perfect to keep your Nike x Off White sneakers, a chair and a doorstop. Virgil being Virgil, expect ordinary household items with a touch of unconventional by way of design flair.
The collection is still in development, so there could be alterations to the unveiled designs before its slated launch next year. Watch the livestream at this link (from the 25:30 mark onwards) to get a first look at the products.
