A celebration of coffee and art at Le Meridien

Le Méridien has always tried to embrace the local culture surrounding their hotels and resorts. This commitment is displayed in Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur’s coffee menu that contains unique local flavours such as Nyonya Delights (Gula Melaka + Coconut Café Latte), Malaysia’s Favourite (Iced Cendol Latte), The Secret (Cincau Café Latte), and Indian Indulgent (Cinnamon Café Latte). Part of a year-long campaign launched by Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, named ’Inspiration Brewed Here’, Le Méridien aims to enrich and strengthen coffee culture in hotels around the world by appointing Master Baristas who posses a broad range of technical skills to produce outstanding cups of coffee.

In the recent event that marries coffee culture and art, Le Méridien Global Master Barista Franz Zauner conducted a small cocktail workshop to showcase the versatility of Illy coffee. Simultaneously, Le Méridien’s first ever Global Latte Artist, Esther Maasdam who was named Dutch Latte Art Champion four years in a row (2011—2014) conducted another workshop to encourage the appreciation of latte art and the many forms it can take. The evening ended with a latte art competition for 10 baristas from cafes around Kuala Lumpur and an exhibition of a stunning piece of artwork painted purely with coffee by Malaysian artist and illustrator, Haris Rashid.
