7 Things you can do this long weekend: 30 Aug–4 September 2017

1. Kick off the long Merdeka celebratory weekend at Marini’s on 57, 9pm onwards, 30 Aug

Count down the hours to Malaysia’s 60th National Day with a closeup view of the Petronas Twin Towers and a special cocktail or two. There’s the pre-Merdeka Cocktail (RM30++) which is a mix of rum, tequila, cointreau, lime and pandan orgeat or if you’re in a large group, opt for a whole punch bowl of the Merdeka 60 cocktail (RM257++) which combines 60 ingredients. Featuring a bottle of G.H.Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut NV and three selected bites, the Merdeka Platter package (RM757++) is another great alternative.

The cover charge for the Merdeka Eve party at Marini’s on 57 is RM88++, which includes entry and a beverage. The dress code is ‘Diamond at the Top’. For reservations, contact 03 2386 6030.

2. Merdeka Sake Night at Nomi Tomo Sake Bar, 8pm, 30 Aug

Celebrate the start of a long weekend (as well as Malaysia’s Independence Day) with good sakes, food as well as music by DJ Jhin and DJ Hong. There’s also a prize worth RM3,000++ up for grabs. They won’t let on what it is though.

For more info or to make a reservation, visit the event page.

3. Try Pan & Tamper’s Kerabu Nasi Burger

Everyone has been talking about the nasi lemak burger (both the Singapore and local editions) but one other cafe has decided to whip up something completely different. Featuring blue pea rice, fried crunchy chicken, fresh ulam, spicy sambal, and salted egg yolk sauce, with keropok served on the side, this is one dish not to be missed.

The Merdeka-exclusive dish is priced at RM29. Pan & Tamper is located at Publika.
