4 New luxury cars in Malaysia you can buy now

Even with the removal of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) exemption, these four new luxury cars are definitely worth looking out for—from Mercedes releasing two new models, to the facelifted Jaguar and a Maserati which blends dynamic power and elegance, there’s something here for anyone seeking a new adventure partner.

Mercedes-AMG A 35 4Matic

Design: This new A 35 has that classic Mercedes-Benz A-class sedan look—it’s small, compact, and has an incredibly powerful engine system, but with a few notable twists. With 19” AMG five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, and a wider arch for AMG-specific wheels, this car is equipped for the joyride of your life.

Power: Under the hood are 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engines, which facilitate an impressive 306 hp and 400 Nm. torque. Don’t let looks deceive you—this compact car can go from 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds, all the way up to its top speed of 250km/h. Despite its power, the AMG Ride Control suspension promises a comfortable, cruise-like drive.

Interior: Compared to its completely built-up (CBU) predecessor, the locally assembled A 35 comes equipped with a myriad of new features, including a Burmester surround sound system, a 360-degree camera and an MBUX Interior Assistant, all of which ensure a seamlessly easy driving experience.

Price (with SST): RM343,888.00

Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4Matic

Design: With a quintessentially AMG exterior, the GLA 35 sports the signature radiator grille with vertical louvres and a distinctive front apron, accompanied by a front splitter and lateral louvres. A silver trim highlights this chic model, which comes in five new colours—Polar White, Denim Blue, Mountain Grey, Cosmos Black and Iridium Silver—just like its sister car, the A35.

Power: Similar to its sister car, the GLA 35’s impressive 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine facilitates a 0-100km/h acceleration of 5.2 seconds. What’s more, a more environmentally conscious, electric variant of the GLA will be available in Malaysia soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Interior: As the luxurious SUV counterpart of the A35, the GLA 35 comes with the standard A-class fix-ins present in its sister model, as well as a state-of-the-art park assist technology called the Parktronic system, the Thermotronic climate control function and the Keyless Go easy access option, all of which ensure a relaxed drive.

Maserati Grecale

Design: Maserati’s newest model takes inspiration from the MC20, displaying a wide grille with concaved bars and a slightly protruding nose. Further evidence of the brand’s signature style is evident on the triple vents on the front fenders. Looks aside, the Grecale’s large dimensions create an extremely spacious and comfortable vehicle.

Power: What makes the Grecale so special is that its engines come in three distinct variations:

  • GT version, equipped with a four-cylinder mild hybrid engine capable of 300 hp;
  • Modena with a four-cylinder 330-hp mild hybrid engine; and
  • Trofeo high-performance internal combustion engine with a 530-hp V6.

In the Trofeo version, the Grecale accelerates from 0-100km/h in a whopping 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 285km/h. The mild hybrids exhibit slightly slower acceleration capacity, with maximum speeds of 240km/h. Notably, the Grecale utilises the new Vehicle Dynamic Control Module (VDCM), which regulates all vehicle dynamics—ultimately serving to maximize performance and safety.

Interior: Aside from the standard Maserati fix-ins, the Grecale comes fitted with a 12.3-inch touchscreen linked to the Maserati Intelligence Assistant, an information-entertainment hybrid system and a plethora of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The Maserati driving experience is topped off by a 21-speaker sound system.

Price: from RM324,936.00 (depending on customisations)

Jaguar XF

Design: As a refreshed version of its predecessor, the first generation XF, the new XF maintains the signature Jaguar style of low-profile headlights and a strong, wide front profile. The XF features aero-optimised front bumpers and wraparound LED taillights, as well as a mesh front grille, giving the car an imposing, powerful aesthetic. However, there are a few distinctions between the XF and the XF R-Dynamic, such as the latter boasting Shadow Atlas grille tips.

Power: The XF is powered by a 2.0-litre Ingenium turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and mild hybrid engines, capable of 365Nm of torque and facilitating a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.1 seconds. The XF’s All Wheel Drive (AWD) with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics is distinct—the system is able to detect changes in terrain before they happen and adjust accordingly to mitigate any harm.

Interior: The cabin of the XF is driver-focused—special emphasis is made on its tactile driver control features like the all-new Drive Selector and the 11.4-inch touchscreen equipped with a Head-Up Display—without detracting from the beauty of the distinctively Jaguar interior. It’s further customisable depending on how you want to accentuate the features of your XF.
