12 Photos that will have you swoon at the BMW Concept X7 iPerformance

You know how stars go on tour? The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance is one such star and it has made its way to Malaysia. Essentially, it’s a luxury class Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and it’s evident with just one look but BMW also aims for it to be a shining example that it is possible to marry a large sports activity vehicle with an electrified drive train, complete with digital connectivity.

Yes, the car is stamped with the ‘iPerformance’ badge, which means it features a combination of BMW’s groundbreaking eDrive technology and TwinPower Turbo petrol engine. The result is an efficient and dynamic plug-in hybrid powertrain that excels in all driving scenarios – including our favourite, running with zero local emissions.

While the exterior is striking and exudes a strong visual statement with its gleaming edges and matte surface, it’s the interior that takes the cake — something we’re sure almost everyone can agree with. Space is, in a way, a luxury, as Mr Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said at the launch. “Luxury is the ability to define an experience,” he added.

True enough. The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance is akin to an airy glasshouse thanks to the large glass panoramic roof where it’s attached to the body only in the form of a slim Y structure, extending from the front to the rear.

The vehicle is a six-seater, split into three rows and all blessed with generous portions of legroom, with four of these seats having an exclusive individual design. But it’s the second row who will get as much fun as those in the front as they’ll be able to access the state-of-the-infotainment from the rear seat touch screens.

At the front, the centre console clearly follows a modern aesthetic with crystal glass elements added for extra flair. There’s also a new operating concept that allows interactive use of the two displays. Coupled with BMW Connected, users will be able to share content with others on board. For example: Sending a track to the car’s music system simply by touch gesture, forward an interesting article to the next-door display for your neighbouring passenger to read, transfer an address from an email to the navigation system.

Sounds exciting? We won’t have to wait too long, thankfully, as the production model for this concept is slated to launch in 2019.

You can check out the BMW Concept X7 iPerformance yourself at Bangsar Shopping Centre from now till 22 July 2018 during the BMW X Range Roadshow.
