Our Guide to Vinyl-Powered Restaurants, Cafés & Bars Around KL/PJ to Visit For Your Fix of Beats and Brews

Our picks of the vinyl-powered listening restaurants, bars & cafés in KL and PJ, where music is also on the menu.

Everyone talks about the art of slowing down. The value in taking a few moments for yourself, the importance of making sure you fill your cup in between the madness, and the power of stopping to smell the roses once in a while. Some may choose to immerse themselves in their favourite album, while others find joy in a freshly brewed coffee or a refreshing glass of wine at the end of a day. But what if you wanted to do both? What if you wanted to kick back with a professionally brewed or shaken beverage and drown your thoughts out with an album or two? Well, let us introduce you to these restaurants, cafés, and bars around KL & PJ, where listening to vinyl records is part of the agenda. In this guide, you’ll find the nine musically-inclined spots that are worth stopping by.

With the amount of thought put into its decor and setup, Monk proves that the art of analog listening is indeed not dead. In its cosy 10-seater space inspired by the iconic jazz kissas of Japan, Monk wants to bring the beauty and depth of vinyls to everyone. Of the over 200 records in its collection, most lean towards the jazz side of things but it also includes some funky pop and rock. The playlist here is decided by the team, who are well-versed in the tunes and the people behind them too—that means you shouldn’t be too shy to ask questions about what you’re listening to. Its founding and operations team also includes members of the local coffee community, so you’re promised a drinks and desserts menu that will live up to the standard of the tunes.
