You’ll find much more than just macarons at the Ladurée tea salon

Confession: Ladurée Malaysia has been opened in Pavilion for more than a year now but I’ve never set foot there—till recently. Well, no better time for a first visit than the present as the French pastry experts unveil a brand new menu. Arriving at the tea salon, I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful space that was tucked away at the tail end of the Couture Zone. With marble features and a pastel palette complemented by metallic gold tones, it is a slice of Parisian whimsy and elegance at the heart of Bukit Bintang.

Everyone knows Ladurée for their delectable spread of macarons, but what some people might not know is their tea salons serve a variety of savoury dishes as well. From starters and salads to main courses and their bestselling French toasts, you’re more likely than not to find something that will satiate your appetite.

There are selections designed with the health-conscious in mind like the picture-perfect Pink Avocado (beetroot hummus, avocado and radish atop house-made brioche toast) and Tokyo Bowl Soba (soba noodles with shitake, red cabbage, edamame, avocado, broccoli and miso dressing), as well as savoury dishes brimming with rich flavours, namely the Ladurée classic Vol au Vent (free range chicken, button mushrooms and morel mushrooms in a house made puff pastry) and Saffron Risotto (arborio rice with shrimps and parmesan cheese). Are you salivating yet?

Ladurée’s classic Vol au Vent

Of course, you can’t say you’ve had a meal at Ladurée without trying the desserts. New to the menu are the brand’s famous French toasts in two luscious new flavours: the Ispahan French toast, a sweet and refreshing medley of rose macaron crumble, fresh raspberries, lychee and rose ice cream on a house-made brioche toast; and the decadent Vanilla Cacao French toast, topped with chocolate crumble, chocolate ganache and vanilla ice cream. Now, sweet dreams are certainly made of these.

A must-try: the Ispahan French toast

Ladurée is located at Pavilion KL, Lot 3.32, Level 3, Couture Zone.
