“It’s easy to forget that you’re celebrating Christmas in KL when you’re indulging in the festive feast prepared by the culinary team at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur. Guests who first enter the lobby would be greeted by a huge Christmas tree decked in gold, followed by Santa’s Kitchen sitting just behind it, doubling as both a photo op spot and the place to shop for some festive gifts. Tip: The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur’s Limited Edition Holiday Trunks (starts at RM800+) would brighten up any lucky recipient with its treasure trove of homemade items.
Moving on to The Brasserie’s Christmas menu, which I had the privilege to sample beforehand and is always such a treat. Starting off with a glass of chilled eggnog—or mulled wine, if you prefer—the assisted buffet spread will have you spoilt for choice with its dazzling spread of fresh seafood (oysters, prawns, lobsters, caviar, you name it), unique appetisers (beetroot salmon, black olive pea tart or crab salad and mango jelly), and mouth-watering classics from the hot section. The traditional roast turkey is a must, but the highlights for me were certainly the Beef Wellington, roast lamb rack, and roasted vegetables.
For those with a sweet tooth, the Pastry Chef has outdone himself with a generous variety of desserts that look too good to eat. There’s a wreath-like cake in a glistening red glaze, dainty white Christmas Candle of Hope tart, a cute chocolate gift box (with a ribbon on top), strawberry eclairs, and so many more.
