Two Malaysian personalities take on the Heart Rate Challenge by surfing indoors
When two hearts beat
The average resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. But under thrilling circumstances, it might just go higher than that. One thing's for sure, you can't control it like you can control the waves made by an indoor surfing machine so, we dared yoga instructor Hansen Lee, and model and TV host Melissa Tan to take on our Heart Rate Challenge. Divided into three stages, they had to start with a quick warm-up (one minute of burpees) before jumping straight into the real deal: Bodyboarding and flowriding. To measure the results, we used the new Fossil Q Gen 4 smartwatches, which now offer heart-rate tracking. Bonus point, they're also swimproof.
Who do you think would win: Hansen or Melissa? Watch the video below to find out:
As shown in the challenge, the new Fossil Q Gen 4 touchscreen smartwatches have been given several upgrades to suit every individual regardless of lifestyle. For starters, all it takes is one hour of charging time for it to last all day, and for the busy bee, you can easily get smartphone notifications on your wrist. This applies even when you don't have your phone with you, thanks to its new untethered GPS capabilities so you can run, hike, and more, without that extra weight.
Powered by Wear OS by Google and the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 Platform, they're both Android- and iOS-friendly. Best of all, with more than 36 exclusive dials and a variety of interchangeable straps and bracelets, there's so much you can do to personalise it for day, night, fun, work, and more. It's true that you don't have to sacrifice fashion for function.
Melissa Tan wears the Fossil Q Venture HR while Hansen Lee wears the Fossil Q Explorist HR. Both are now available in stores at a recommended retail price of RM1,272.
