CNY 2022: 7 Shopping malls with the most unique and auspicious CNY decor

Something all mall-goers can look forward to during festive seasons is themed mall decor—and those throughout KL and PJ are known for going all out for Chinese New Year. With the Year of the Tiger just days away, malls have come alive with magnificent installations to usher in the Lunar New Year.

Doing some last-minute CNY shopping or just getting your regular fix of retail therapy? We’ve rounded up the Klang Valley shopping malls with the best CNY decor to get you in the mood for a “roar-some” Chinese New Year:

Pavilion KL

In collaboration with international award-winning origami artist Master Chen Xiao, Pavilion KL’s Centre Court houses the mall’s ‘Blooms of Prosperity’ decor, featuring the 30-foot Pavilion Paper Art Garden meant to evoke the intricacies of origami. The installations combine natural elements to represent the four seasons, Chinese lanterns, and a Golden Mountain and Yellow Tiger at the centre of the garden.

Suria KLCC

This CNY season, Suria KLCC transports visitors to a faraway time and place of Chinese royalty. Visitors may find a royal Chinese palace situated in the mall’s Centre Court, surrounded by a garden complete with a lotus pond, pink cherry blossom trees, and stone-carved imperial guardian lions flanking the palace steps. Suria KLCC’s CNY decorations also include a grand pagoda outside the mall, which if you’ve heard recent controversies surrounding colour choices, has been repainted to better suit the auspicious season. The pagoda lights up at night too, so it looks just as incredible in the dark as it does during daytime.
