This season’s crowning glory: Modern-day tiaras

Traditionally worn to denote one’s high status in society, the tiara has trickled down the centuries to take the form of an accessible, wearable accessory—not so much the full-on crowns we see in fairy tales, but as dainty, pretty headpieces to slip on as we wish. This SS16, head ornaments were given the high-fashion treatment by a number of luxury houses: Yves Saint Laurent showed us how to rock the grunge tiara; Dolce & Gabbana’s models had vibrant fruity and floral hairpieces on, while Miu Miu’s modern take on the accessory resulted in bold, zigzag headpieces decked with spiky gems, among others. From opulent evening numbers to everyday headbands, we pick out seven beautiful headpieces to own right now:
