From Ralph Lauren’s extravagant 50th anniversary show at the Central Park to Marc Jacobs’ late show (90 minutes late, to be exact), this past New York Fashion Week may be the most eventful one yet. But the dramatic of them all, was definitely Nicki Minaj and Cardi B’s brawl at the Icons party. Rumoured to be due to Minaj’s comments about Cardi’s baby, Kulture, the altercation between the rappers left Cardi B being escorted out of the event with a large bump on her forehead. Following the incident, both stars continued to make their fashion week appearances in Milan and Paris, and let their head-turning ensembles battle it out. Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are not ones to shy away from more-is-more outfits, and they definitely didn’t hold back during fashion week. From an Alexandre Vauthier leopard print gown to Marc Jacobs’ puffed sleeve dress and Versace’s OTT look, Minaj channeled her inner style chameleon, sporting five different hairstyles in seven shows alone. Similarly, Cardi B rocked her favourite animal prints to the Jeremy Scott and Dolce & Gabbana shows, although there were some pared back ensembles that we’re not used to seeing. Case in point: Polished and chic get-ups in the form of an all-black Tom Ford gown and a tailored look from Mugler.
