Nicolas Ghesquière renews his contract at Louis Vuitton

In a time where there is a flurry of ins and outs at the biggest fashion houses, Nicolas Ghesquière—the womenswear artistic director at Louis Vuitton—has decided to renew his contract, as the French label announced earlier. First signed on in 2013 (succeeding Marc Jacobs), throughout these five years, the women’s RTW line and leather goods have seen an “unprecedented growth”. For example, the Petite Malle bag which has now become a signature piece.

 

In a statement released by the brand, the owner of LVMH, Bernard Arnault stated “I am very happy that we are continuing our Louis Vuitton women’s wear journey with Nicolas. He has been able to make the Louis Vuitton woman contemporary, resulting in major commercial successes. His vision, talent and creativity place him as one of the best designers in the world today.”

 

Nicolas Ghesquière echoed his excitement as well, saying, “I am very pleased to open the next chapter of the story I started with Louis Vuitton almost 5 years ago. Balancing an incredible heritage with a constant quest for innovation has always been an essential part of my work, it is also at the centre of the history of this company and I look forward to further develop the codes we have implemented over the last years. I am very grateful to Bernard Arnault for the trust he places in me and to Michael Burke and Delphine Arnault for their ongoing stewardship on this beautiful journey”.
