Despite recent progress in spotlighting body diversity, the industry still has ways to go when it comes to celebrating all types of beauty and sizes. Most brands still don’t offer above a UK size 16, while those that do usually only provide a limited range of designs. On top of that, there is the common misconception that sustainability and plus-size fashion are mutually exclusive to one another, even though most conscious brands whose values align with that of a customer’s, are inaccessible to them in size.
Thankfully, a new wave of size-inclusive brands abroad, such as Universal Standard, 11 Honoré and Girlfriend Collective, has been at the vanguard of expanding the category in the last few years, inspiring more established retailers to change up their offerings in return.
