Kate Moss models for Aigner—plus other fashion news you’ve missed

Longchamp Le Pliage Re-Play

Leftover canvas has found a new life at Longchamp. The Le Pliage Re-Play focuses on the colourful, positive and eco-conscious aspects of what a bag can be. Available in three different models—the vertical tote, a small shoulder bag and a very on-trend belt bag—each one comes with two strikingly different colours from end-of-roll nylon canvas and a third colour that’s drawn from Russian leather trim.

Available in an array of colourways, the Le Pliage Re-Play is only available for a limited time and quantities. Get them online or at Longchamp stores at Suria KLCC, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and at the Gardens Mall Kuala Lumpur.

Kate Moss is the face of Aigner

Starring as the face of Aigner’s AW22 campaign is none other than legendary supermodel Kate Moss. Fronting the ‘Progress’ collection that highlights development, dynamism and innovation, Moss represents the symbol of freedom, empowerment and strength.

An icon that has long influenced fashion with her effortless style, Moss’ persona echoes the pieces that are featured in this season’s collection. The leather dress, that was designed primarily for the campaign and the Delia bag that she carries in hand exemplifies elegance and coolness. You can check out the latest collection at the Aigner boutiques in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Suria KLCC and LaLaport Bukit Bintang.

Check out the new Gucci Attache campaign

Designed away from the confines of gender, the Gucci Attache is a contemporary bag created from a standpoint of modern attitude and the revival of a historical object from Gucci’s archive. A bag with a distinct silhouette that draws from the intuition and attitude of the ‘70s combined with a modern narrative, the Attache closes on itself like a hook, paying homage to the French word it’s derived from. Coming in a full leather option or with the iconic Gucci Web pattern and interchangeable straps, the bag seamlessly transforms from a shoulder bag to a handbag.

Its newly-released campaign is directed by photographer and Art Director Max Siedentopf, shot against a metropolitan backdrop, underlining the same symbols that form the meaning of this bag. You can now purchase the Gucci Attache at Gucci Pavillion, KLCC and the Gucci Gardens store.

Highlights of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur

The fourth instalment of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur took place recently from 22 to 24 July, and the three-day affair was an event to remember. With sustainability at the forefront, up-and-coming labels such as Li’s Atelier, Fondest and LTTL crafted their collections utilising excess fabrics from the cutting room floors, deadstock materials and upcycling existing pieces to fit with the ethos of their brands. Furthermore, shining a light on fresh new talent, Mercedes-Benz hosted the Fashion Futures Design competition, won by young designer Helmy Harun. Harun is set to attend an international Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week event on an all-expenses-paid trip.

On the other end of the spectrum, veteran designers such as Justin Yap, Carven Ong and Joe Chia showcased notable collections that ranged from effortless, colour-infused silhouettes to more pared-down, alternative looks that can be adapted in any situation. Additionally, contemporary label UnitedWood debuted on the runway for the first time in Malaysia with a show titled ‘Homecoming’. Silhouettes were a varied mix of classic and tailored styles, emulating the ‘Old Money’ aesthetic to a tee.

Kaia Gerber, Tang Wei and Jessie Buckley star in the Loewe Amazona 16 camapign

Initially launched in 1975, the Loewe Amazona was created to represent the working woman who’s looking for a bag that’s practical, inclusive and represents liberation. Fast forward to 2021, the bag was relaunched under Loewe’s current Creative Director, Jonathan Anderson, with an updated, refined silhouette to suit the aesthetics of the times. The Amazona is available in three sizes, 28, 23 and the compact Amazona 19 square.

Now, the label introduces the Amazona 16, a petite version of the iconic bag to offer small-scaled functionality with a youthful allure. Meant to fit essential items such as your keys, a small wallet and a phone, the tiny tote comes finished in supple Nappa calfskin leather and a jacquard strap in four colourways. For the campaign, Anderson employed the notable photographer Juergen Teller to capture the likes of Kaia Gerber, actress Tang Wei and singer and actress Jessie Buckley with the bag in the most whimsical, Loewe way possible.
