From the iconic Baguette to the classic Peekaboo to the new-favourite Sunshine Shopper, Fendi’s bags need no introduction. But for Spring/Summer 2021, the Italian Maison is elevating its well-loved arm candies to new heights through a collaboration with Sarah Coleman. For the uninitiated, Coleman is a New York-based visual artist who is known for repurposing logo fabrics and turning them into furniture, décor, and more.
Fendi first tapped Coleman to reinterpret its Miami Design District boutique in December last year. There, the creative reimagined the brand’s iconic FF logo pattern via a ‘70s psychedelic lens, which resulted in a mesmerising print dubbed the FF Vertigo. Fast forward to this season, the fashion house has extended its partnership with the artist by launching a Summer 2021 capsule that champions the eye-catching motif. Two words to describe the collection? Happiness, guaranteed.
Aside from the twisted-and-turned version of the FF logo, there’s also a slew of cheer-inducing designs that’ll spruce up the simplest of outfits. Think vivid sequins, pretty blooms, and the cutest lil’ sidekicks.
Below, all the deets on Fendi’s Summer 2021 capsule collection:
You know what Carrie Bradshaw said: It’s not a bag, it’s a Baguette. Designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, the bag made its debut during Autumn/Winter 1997 and has remained an icon ever since. The re-edition, called the Baguette 1997, features slimmer sides and an adjustable and flappable handle. Like its predecessor, it can be worn snugly under the arm.
Introduced in four colours and two designs, take your pick between the FF Fisheye motif in classic brown, yellow, or blue, or zhuzh it up with one that’s accented with floral embroidery.
Fendi Baguette Paillette
Alternatively, you can also opt for a Baguette that’s fully embellished with XL paillettes—it’s truly a work of art. Available in two sizes, the bags are perfect for those who are all for mummy-and-me fashion moments.
The Peekaboo was only launched 12 years ago, but there’s no denying its It-status, not only within the brand but across the globe. The latest offerings include two sizes and two colours (in plain yellow or the FF Vertigo pattern); when it comes to the latter, the motif is printed onto the mineral tanned leather using an ink jet technology.
Fendi Peekaboo ISeeU
Following the launch of the Peekaboo, there’s the Peekaboo ISeeU. Unlike the version that was unveiled during Design Miami, this iteration may not glow in the dark, but the colours and print will still evoke joy. The stitching details on the plain bags add to their allure.
Fendi Sunshine Shopper
For lovers of roomy bags, the Sunshine Shopper now comes in a beach-ready design. Instead of leather, the tote is crafted from straw, and it features contrasting coloured details that give it that extra dose of fun. The leather version that’s emblazoned with the Fendi Roma logo comes in blue or brown.
A mini version of the Sunshine Shopper is also available, accented with natural straw material and tortoise-shell effect plexiglass handles that amp up the interest.
The Moonlight is the newcomer on the list. Debuted during SS21, the bag’s distinctive feature—aside from its saddle shape—is the tortoiseshell-effect plexiglass details on both sides, as well as the gold-finish metalware that seals it on an elegant note. It’s available in a wide range of colours, but the distinctive blue from this capsule line is definitely one of our favourites.
Fendi’s bag charms have always had a special place in our hearts, but just when we thought they couldn’t get any cuter, the collaboration surprised us with four mini accessories in the form of the Baguette and Peekaboo ISeeU silhouettes. The latter—in baby pink and brown braided strap—is at the top of our #need list.
Regardless of your style, the Fendi Summer 2021 capsule has bags that will tickle your fancy. Shop the collection in stores or online here.
