As part of a broader strategic partnership, Kering and Mayhoola reached an agreement for Kering to acquire a 30 per cent stake in Valentino for €1.7 billion in cash. The arrangement includes an option for Kering to purchase 100 per cent of Valentino’s share capital by 2028. Commenting on the announcement, François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kering said, “I am very pleased with this first step in our collaboration with Mayhoola to develop Valentino and pursue the very strong strategic journey of brand elevation that Jacopo Venturini will continue to lead.” Following the decision, Mayhoola remains the majority shareholder with 70 per cent of the share capital and will explore potential joint opportunities with Kering in line with their respective development strategies.

Loewe reveals its AW23 men’s campaign, which explores the possibilities of the gaze and body gesture to express feelings while capturing the House’s reductionist spirit. Jamie Dornan and Omar Apollo embody the collection in a series of stills captured by David Sims, highlighting the sculptural and textured presence of the Puzzle Fold tote and Terra Chelsea boots. What’s more, each image is an ode to artist Julien Nguyen, whose work inspired the collection. More importantly, the composition of the campaign connects with the women’s campaign, whereby both transform the concept of reduction into uncanny visual storytelling.

In keeping with its tradition of collaboration, Longchamp joins forces with Toiletpaper, a mischievous arts publication created and produced by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, to reimagine the classic Le Pliage. The coveted fold bag is adorned with five amusing graphics, including Gallic staples like the baguette and the French bulldog, as well as the House’s timeless motifs such as the sprinting horse insignia and the leather pipe. “For this collaboration with Longchamp, we wanted to play with the codes of French icons and of the Maison so that they became alive again. Each image can be seen from multiple different points of view—there isn’t just one message,” says Ferrari. The limited-edition series comes in an electrifying colour palette of candy pink, sky blue, and sunny yellow.

Balenciaga expands its Paris headquarters

Balenciaga is set to return to its birthplace on Avenue George V, a landmark of French fashion. The major shift involves expanding the current salons, as well as the ateliers and offices for Couture and creative function, which span addresses 10 and 12 on six levels.  On top of that, the freshly renovated spaces will feature high-tech updates and modern touches like dark, smoked glass that divides raw walls, creating a place where Maison’s past, present, and future coexist. The historic structure holds significance as it has witnessed everything, from Cristobal Balenciaga opening his ateliers in 1937 to Demna debuting his first couture collection for the label in 2021.
