Clare Waight Keller to exit Chloé

We are one month into 2017 and last year’s game of fashion musical chairs shows no signs of stopping. Today, it is reported that Chloé has confirmed the departure of its current creative director, Clare Waight Keller. The 46-year-old designer will be leaving the French luxury house after showing her Autumn/Winter collection next month.

As reported by BoF, the designer said of her exit, “Working for this maison has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Chloé is a brand with values close to my heart and I have truly enjoyed working with some of the best talents in the industry. I feel privileged to have worked for a maison with such a heritage and I am very proud of all that has been achieved.”

During her six years with the Paris-based house, Waight Keller has demonstrated a knack for “infusing a cool and easy breeze into the Chloé wardrobe, effortlessly mixing graceful and feminine ‘flou’ with a free-wheeling and boyish take on tailoring”, as commented by Chloé president Geoffroy De La Bourdonnaye. Prior to joining the house in 2011, she has worked at Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Gucci and Pringle of Scotland.

Rumours that Natacha Ramsay-Levi, Louis Vuitton’s senior director—also, longtime right-hand to women’s artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière—will be replacing Waight Keller. Chloé would not comment on the likelihood of her appointment.
