11 Striking luxury brand capsule collections to usher in the year of the Tiger

Salvatore Ferragamo

For the Lunar New Year, Salvatore Ferragamo has tapped Chinese artists Sun Yuan and Peng Yu to create a unique tiger-inspired print for a collection that pays tribute to the brand’s long history of uniting the world’s art and culture with fashion. Decked out across a silk foulard and Studio bag, the new design draws from traditional Chinese paintings to symbolise passion, auspiciousness and safety for the year ahead. There’s also plenty of red to bring the festive spirit to life, as seen in the Trifolio handbag, as well as the men’s leather accessories.

Gucci

In honour of the Chinese zodiac, Gucci dropped an over 80-piece collection of ready-to-wear and accessories for men and women, dedicated to the feline. The Tiger collection is an Alessandro Michele signature––since his arrival at the House of Gucci in 2015, the designer has been reworking the archival design that was first originated by Italian artist and illustrator Vittorio Accornero in the late 1960s. Another Accornero creation, the house’s signature floral design has been implemented as the backdrop for the new Lunar collection, featuring all-over prints of tiger and floral variations across reversible bomber jackets, bucket hats, tote bags, watches and more.

Valentino

In case you didn’t know, the tiger has been an icon of the Valentino Maison since it first appeared as the first look of the brand’s Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 1967-68 collection. Back then, the pattern was immortalised by German model Veruschka, who wore the tiger coat for a spread that appeared in a Vogue issue of that year. As such, Valentino has introduced Valentino Tiger 1967 to celebrate this Lunar New Year, presenting the motif across shorts, hoodies and Valentino Garavani accessories like bucket hats and Roman Stud bags in natural and neon palettes. A special highlight includes the new Valentino Garavani Locò bag, a compact double handle bag with 90s allure and a flap with a VLogo Signature clip closure.
