Exactly one week ago, on May 25, George Floyd was killed during an arrest after a police officer pinned him to the ground with his knee. His last words, “I can’t breathe” became the driving force for protests not only in the US but across the world. His death has reignited the conversation about racial injustice and police brutality in America, and protestors took the streets to demand justice for Floyd and the other African-Americans who were senselessly killed by the police.

Celebrities including Rihanna and Beyoncé have also taken to Instagram to denounce the murder, as the latter posted a video saying: “I’m not only speaking to people of color; if you’re white, black, brown or anything in-between, I’m sure you feel hopeless by the racism going on in America right now. No more senseless killing of human beings, no more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away. George is all of our family in humanity. He’s our family because he’s a fellow American.”
