13 Empowering fashion finds to wear loud and proud this International Women’s Day

This International Women’s Day, aside from acknowledging the important women in your life, it’s also about celebrating women’s stories around the world and making our voices heard. In conjunction with that, we’ve highlighted some of the must-have feminist-inspired fashion pieces for us to wear our agenda on our sleeves, and do some good while you’re at it. For starters, Net-a-Porter has launched an ‘Empowered Women Empower Women’ capsule collection, featuring T-shirts designed by five female designers, namely Rosie Assoulin, Isabel Marant, Ellery, Alexa Chung and Perfect Moment, with words such as ‘Power’, ‘Divine Feminine’ and ‘You Go Girl’ emblazoned on them. All the profits will be donated to Women for Women International UK, which is a charity supporting women survivors of war to rebuild their lives. Similarly, French fashion brand Zadig & Voltaire also released a T-shirt printed with a picture of a ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fundamental Human Rights’ sign, photographed by Italian artist Micol Sabbadini during the 2017 Women’s March in New York City. All profits will go to a non-profit organisation called Every Mother Counts, dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe and accessible for women everywhere.

If you’re looking for something that’ll let you score extra points in the style department (because what better way to feel empowered than by looking the part?), a sheer skirt—embroidered with the word ‘Equality’ at the bottom—from Versace can be layered over a mini denim skirt or cigarette trousers. The oh-so-trendy ‘Girls’ hairpin from Ashley Williams will get your message across clearly, and capture all the right attention wherever you go. For something subtler, get your hands on the necklace from Chloé‘s Femininities line that champions womanhood, featuring a pendant that symbolises fertility (it makes for a great gift!). Alternatively, opt for the Venus symbol necklace by Alison Lou for something closer to your heart (literally).
