Watch now: Delpozo Autumn/Winter 2016’s Fashion Film, ‘Winter Eclipse’
Art meets architecture
This season's creations by Delpozo are shown in a whimsical, almost-musical setting. The new short film, "Winter Eclipse" opens with Unia Pakhomova hiding under the dining table as she watches two impeccably dressed women leave the house. Finding herself alone in the room, she plays a vinyl record and begins lip-syncing and dancing. After a series of outfit changes, the model brings Delpozo's pieces to life to join in on her party.
Directed by Pablo Maestres under the creative direction of Josep Font, the video was filmed at La Ricarda, an iconic house which became a refuge for the Catalan art during the last fifteen years of the Spanish dictatorship. Built between 1953 and 1963, everything including the furniture was designed exclusively for the house by architect Antonio Bonet in close collaboration with the owner, Ricardo Gomis and his wife, Agnes Bertrand Mata. Sharing the same sentiments as the house, Delpozo's collection aesthetics are timeless - retro yet modern at the same.
Drawing ideas from Fritz Lang's sci-fi movie from the '30s, Metropolis and Daria Petrilli's illustrations, metallic colour palette and industrial volumes are apparent throughout the video and collection. With nature being Delpozo's constant inspiration each season, the designer resonated with Petrilli's portraits - a surrealist twist that incorporates nature elements and Victorian style women, which are presented in the collection's voluminous and architectural silhouettes.
