NYFW SS24: Michael Kors takes us on a elegant escape at Domino Park

New York dreaming

Leave it to Michael Kors to deliver the quintessential New York experience during his highly anticipated NYFW Michael Kors Collection SS24 runway. Opting for an outdoor location this time around, the picturesque Domino Park in Brooklyn, offering stunning views of the Williamsburg Bridge and the Manhattan skyline, served as the backdrop for the eagerly awaited show.

It was a risky move to have the event outdoors, especially considering the unpredictable weather conditions in the days leading up to it—ranging from scorching heat to heavy rain. But it seems luck was on the brand’s side as the morning of the event graced us with clear blue skies, sunny rays and a gentle breeze.

The show setting, along the waterfront stretch of Domino Park, adorned with an all-white runway, framed by vibrant pink bougainvillaeas, served as the perfect complement to Kors’ collection. For SS24, his focus centred on the ideal getaway, capturing the romantic allure of escaping to blue skies and balmy weather.

The theme of holiday escapism isn’t foreign to the brand—in fact, jet-setting glamour is what Kors does best. Whether it’s a trip to Paris or soaking up the sun in Hollywood, each collection promises endless sophistication for your vacation wardrobe. However, for this particular collection, glamour took a backseat, giving way to a sense of ease and optimism.

The runway showcased an array of short silhouettes that flaunted the legs, alongside breezy, floor-sweeping dresses and fluid caftans. Empire waist dresses crafted from chiffon fabric and eye-catching graphic giraffe prints offer a refreshing departure from a slew of beige-toned looks. Meanwhile, sorbet shades of purple and pink injected a much-needed vibrancy.

On the accessories front, which played a vital role in complementing the collection, the rattan bucket silhouette in multiple shades made a striking appearance, alongside chain shoulder carry-alls and sleek rectangle leather crossbodies. Additionally, flat T-strap sandals added to the effortlessness of the overall theme.

As expected with every Michael Kors runway, a star-studded audience graced the occasion, with appearances by Blake Lively, who dazzled in a gold jumpsuit, Halle Berry, Vanessa Hudgens, Rita Ora and more. The show also saw an impressive lineup of top models such as Vittoria Ceretti, Anok Yai, Liya Kebede, Natasha Poly, Irina Shayk, Liu Wen and Ashley Graham, who brought the collection to life.
