Onitsuka Tiger unveiled its SS24 collection in Milan last September, marking the label’s sixth participation at Milan Fashion Week. While the Japanese brand has always fused fashion with heritage, sports, and innovation, the latest line centred around layering to achieve more sophisticated, one-of-a-kind styling statements. When it comes to menswear classics, the garments are reworked with delicate yet precise tailoring and do not hide any significant details thanks to the layers of fabrics and textures. For instance, the mismatched T-shirts with bright textile patterns, structured jackets, and revealing sweaters.

Similarly, uneven folds and daring cutouts are prominent in women’s wardrobes as they flatter their figures. Ahead of the collection’s debut in stores next year, four Malaysian celebrities and influencers—Yaya Zahir, Shalma Ainaa, Jane Chuck, and Juwei Teoh—were photographed by Hans Goh in the Italian city donning a selection of pieces from the line. Keep reading to see how each of them styles all the essential designs from the SS24 collection.

Yaya Zahir

In contrast to her day-to-day colour-blocking ensembles, Yaya Zahir is wrapped in a black ankle-length coat against the aged, rustic yellow wall. When looked at closely, the outerwear is decorated with scattered clustered black beads to create a shimmering effect. The yellow knee-high boots add a playful touch to the outfit, instantly catching attention from across the room.

On the collection, the TV personality and founder of streetwear label Asly notes: “Since it was my first time attending Milan Fashion Week, I felt that Onitsuka Tiger’s show was the perfect start. It was refreshing, the silhouette was breezy and wonderfully made. I couldn’t take my eyes off those gorgeous gladiator sandals too. It was a thrilling and absolutely amazing experience!”

Jane Chuck

This sheer, sleeveless floor-length dress aptly embodies the idea Andrea Pompilio wants to convey with the collection. It’s true that there is a second layer of fabric inside, but the asymmetrical details give the illusion that it’s all one piece. Also, you can never go wrong with the yellow boots because they fit perfectly with the look.

Shalma Ainaa

You can never go wrong with a black-on-black pairing. However, the beaded tank top Ainaa wears gives her look an added interesting detail. In fact, it matches nicely with the oversized coat and the black trousers. The trainers additionally steal the show with their bold yellow soles. Just by glancing at the sole, you can tell that these are Onitsuka Tiger sneakers.

When asked what she thinks of the line, the TV host and founder of homegrown brand Shals comments: “I am in love with how versatile and cool the new Onitsuka Tiger SS24 collection is! I can definitely see myself wearing these stylish pieces in many ways.”

Juwei Teoh

If you’re looking for a black dress with a contemporary twist, this is it. What defines this from the rest are the organised cut-out elements at the shoulder, back, and thigh. Plus, it looks great when coupled with the new lace-up sandals. You’ll want a pair of these because they’re made of velvet, which instantly adds an air of elegance to your outfit.
