BURO Spotlights: Levi’s® Blue Tab™ Exhibit and the Future of Denim Craft

Denim has long been one of those constants in the wardrobe, but Levi’s® continues to find new ways to work around it. The latest Blue Tab™ collection looks to the archives not as nostalgia, but as a foundation for refinement. There’s a push-and-pull between structure and softness, with Japanese denim offset by lighter fabrics sourced from different regions. Airy denim pieces and silk soften the language of denim, lending it an ease that feels attuned to the season.

For womenswear, it’s all about contrast. Pieces like the Roper Shacket and Bustier feel structured without being rigid, while the high-rise Roper jean plays with wash and tone in a way that almost feels layered. Elsewhere, staples are given a subtle reset—the Trucker Jacket through embroidery and cut-outs, and the Bandit Short through a looser, more relaxed cut.

Menswear leans into familiar shapes, reworked with a lighter touch. The 1980s 501® jeans return sharper than before, cut from a tighter weave with a cleaner finish that gives the silhouette more definition. Then comes the Sawtooth jacket in Japanese cotton, where Sawtooth and Trucker elements collide in a relaxed, button-up cut. Pleated trousers and relaxed shirts bring a softer rhythm to the lineup, sitting naturally within everyday dressing.

The Blue Tab™ story continues through the Exhibit at GMBB, where The Grey Box becomes an immersive space for denim craft and cultural exchange. Garments are presented as sculptural installations, accompanied by material studies and archival references that unpack the design process.

A highlight of the space is ‘Roots Of Connection’ by Phynn Studio, which reinterprets the familiar Malaysian folding table and chairs through Levi’s® denim language. The exhibit also includes curated collection displays, a denim care showcase, and a custom look created by the Levi’s® team using Blue Tab™ pieces.

The launch night features a runway showcase of the collection, with live performances by Soft Soft Pillow setting the pace for the evening. From regional names to local familiar faces, the crowd included Mimiyuuuh, Sheila Dara and Savina Chow, alongside Daiyan Trisha, Nadhir Nasar and Hun Haqeem, reinforcing the brand’s position as a meeting point of fashion, craft and culture.
