#BuroSocial: In celebration of female empowerment

In conjunction with International Women’s Day on March 8, we launched the third installment of our #BuroBossGirl series this month, featuring four inspiring boss women across different industries (watch all four episodes here if you haven’t just yet!) As we rolled out the last chapter earlier this week, we thought it fitting to cap off March with a second Buro Social dedicated to female empowerment. After all, what better way to share insights on feminism and women empowerment than conversing with like-minded females over lunch?

Celebrating the women of today who channel strength, beauty, and grace, our esteemed guests of the afternoon encompassed all of that — and more, including Datin Dian Lee, Jenn Low, Izrin Ismail, Elaine Daly, Ung Yiu Lin, Elizabeth Lee Yong, Jesrina Arshad, Hunny Madu, Aina Syahirah, Patricia Knudsen, Sarah Lian amongst others. Held in a private room nestled inside Ploy, our lunch setup was beautifully decorated with charming hydrangeas and ranunculus, courtesy of flower connoisseurs Daun & Petals. As our company gradually trickled in, the reverberating chatter within the room grew palpably as they mingled with one another before lunch was served. Guests also took the opportunity to explore the latest from Chanel Beauty (including the new Coco Mademoiselle Intense Eau de Parfum) with a glass of Zonin Prosecco in hand.

After the ladies were seated in time for the power lunch to begin, editor-in-chief Cai Mei Khoo delivered a welcome speech that highlighted the afternoon’s theme: To celebrate strong, independent women who dare to dream and achieve their dreams. A round of hearty applause and “hear, hear’s!” echoed across the room, and lunch was served shortly after. The menu of the day was customised around the notes of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle Intense fragrance — Sicilian orange was added into the starter, a seared scallop salad with Goma dressing; the main course was infused with Tonka bean and Calabrian bergamot; and the dessert (Madagascar Vanilla ice cream) rounded off the afternoon with a sweet note. In between courses, guests partook in discussions revolving table topics such as feminism, female role models, work-life balance, and their take on “inner beauty”.

The hours flew by amidst loaded conversations and plentiful photo opportunities, and our first ever Buro Social of the year came to a denouement by 3pm after a heartfelt thanks to our three #BuroBossGirls (each bestowed with a special bouquet of blooms). Guests took home a curated selection of Chanel Beauty products, including the Coco Mademoiselle Intense Eau de Parfum, a Sublimage L’Extrait de Creme and Sublimage L’Extrait Candle, along with a Rouge Coco lip product.
