5 reasons why you wish you were at Tommyland

When Tommy Hilfiger teased us with subtle hints of his upcoming runway show on Instagram, it did not take much to guess that it is going to be a major one.  Taking his show, #TommyNow outside of New York Fashion Week, the American designer presented his eponymous brand’s second in-season fashion show in Venice Beach, Los Angeles. There were likenesses between the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 shows; both shared similar carnival atmosphere, and showcased collections designed in collaboration with model-of-the-moment, Gigi Hadid. This season, the TommyxGigi collection incorporates the brand’s signature East Coast heritage with Hadid’s relaxed West Coast aesthetic. From a whopping total of 50 looks to an impressive set and celebrity spotting, here are some of the top reasons why you wish you were one of the 3000 guests at Tommyland.

#1 Fun fashion experiences

Guests enjoyed unexpected activities including shopping Tommy Vintage by Frankie Collective, getting a taste of local Smorgasbord L.A. food trucks, taking in a stunning paranomic view of Tommyland from the Kamikaze and Landslide rides and dancing to surprise music performances.

#2 Famous models

Besides supermodel, Gigi Hadid, the show featured top models such as Bella Hadid, Joan Smalls, Hailey Baldwin, Stella Maxwell and Sara Sampaio, just to name a few.

#3 Star-studded guests

#FROW guests included Gigi and Bella’s family, Lewis Hamilton, Lucky Blue Smith, Sofia Richie and Kris Jenner. However, it was Lady Gaga who sent show-goers into a frenzy as she appeared at Tommyland in a satin sequined top with matching hot pants.

#4 Live performances

Eight-time Grammy award winner, Fergie gave a spectacular performance during the show finale with some of her biggest solo hits and chart toppers from the Black Eyed Peas. American neo-soul duo, Lion Babe also took the stage to perform their chart-climbing hits.

#5 The clothes

With so much going on at Tommyland, you’d think it would be easy to forget about the clothes. Of course Hilfiger was not going to let that happen—Hadid opened the show dressed in a cropped top paired with a sporty patchwork jacket, leather biker pants and cowboy boots. Inspired by West Coast music and arts festival, Hilfiger celebrates the fusion of fashion with California-inspired creativity. Throwing in Americana vibes, the collection featured lots of denim, quirky patches as well as Western influences like boho dresses, fringe, patterned patchwork and the red-white-blue motif. The best part? All looks from the Spring 2017 show were immediately available for purchase across all sales channels in more than 70 countries.
