Titian Budaya: Celebrating 50 years of SG-MY friendship

If you love a good arts event, swing by Titian Budaya starting next month. A string of celebratory festivities aimed at bridging cultures between Singapore and Malaysia with art, dance, theatre, music and more, the event will be held across different venues in Kuala Lumpur from 21 November 2015 to 17 January 2016.

Titian Budaya underlines the spirit of partnership, collaboration and cooperation between the two countries, and will feature an estimated 400 participants from creative communities in Singapore and Malaysia, highlighting shared cultural and entertainment traditions and icons familiar to both countries.

The event will kick off with Next Door at Publika on 21-22 Novembera supercharged weekend carnival with a series of four events: Art Next Door, Bazaar Next Door, Music Live Next Door, and Cinema Next Door. From art exhibitions to film screenings (including an outdoor film screening of Jack Neo’s iconic I Not Stupid), it’s a one-of-a-kind open house that will transform the mall into a cultural playground. There will also be performances by Singapore’s popular singer-songwriter Charlie Lim and our very own songbird, Liyana Fizi.

On 8 December, Titian Budaya Night will take place at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, Malaysia’s world-class concert venue. This one-night-only gala event will feature a star-studded cast of soloists—jazz maestro Jeremy Monteiro and Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah will take the stage alongside the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, performing works of well-known Malaysian and Singaporean composers. One of the highlights of the night will be a medley of the legendary late P. Ramlee’s classic and well-loved songs, especially rearranged by Eric Watson.
