Breaking news: Music icon Prince dead at the age of 57
Yet another legend leaves us
It is turning out to be a very sad year for the world of music, as it loses yet another legend. Prince's publicist Yvette Noel-Schure confirmed the news with Associated Press: "It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57".
Just earlier this month, Prince was not feeling well, and had to cancel at least one concert in Atlanta. After his concert at the city, he was hospitalised after his plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois. Released a few hours later, it was reported that he had been battling a bad case of the flu.
Known for his innovative and eclectic work, the iconic singer leaves behind an extensive legacy. One of the best-selling one of the best-selling artists of all time, he has won seven Grammy Awards, as well as an Academy Award for the original song score to the classic film "Purple Rain." May the legend rest in peace.
