Joe Jonas embodies an emo clown in his cover of Adele’s ‘Hello’

Confusing times, indeed

Joe Jonas embodies an emo clown in his cover of Adele’s ‘Hello’

Definitely one of those things that may leave you with plenty of mixed feelings (yet you can’t stop watching it), Joe Jonas and his band DNCE have decided to join in with the emotional wreckage that has been left behind by Adele and her sensational new single ‘Hello.’

Probably the most interesting yet confusing cover of the song yet, Jonas – known for his boy band Disney days, among other good-boy-turned-semi-bad-boy things – makes for an extremely sad clown as he sings his heart and soul out along with his fellow forlorn clowns. This goes to show, perhaps, that no amount of rainbow-coloured hair, jester costumes, big red bows or white face paint can add any happiness into this song.

But it’s not as satirical as one may expect it to be. Jonas shows off his impressive vocal range in this soulful cover, a feat that many of us have come to realise following his far departure from his Jonas Brothers days. But not to worry, DNCE’s new EP SWAAY remains far from the sentimental boy band pop songs too – and Adele’s ‘Hello,’ for that fact. A cheerful, upbeat, sort-of pop, electro rock medley, Jonas and DNCE seem to be heading for an interesting, listen-worthy ride.
