4 & 5 January (Fri & Sat), Chelsia Ng’s ‘Resolutions’ @ Bobo KL

Bobo KL’s first act of the year is actress and singer-songwriter Chelsia Ng, who will be serenading the room with her originals as well as covers of Alanis Morissette, Jewel, Regina Spektor and more. Accompanying her on stage are pianist Loh Ui Li and bass guitarist Wafi.

5 January (Sat), Kyle Live in KL @ The Bee, Publika

Kick off the year with the positive vibes and upbeat verses of Kyle. Following the release and success of his debut album Light of Mine in 2018, the Californian rapper will be stopping by KL on his first ever world tour. Rap cypher show 16 Baris will open the night with Airliftz, Lil J and Aman Ra.

11 & 12 January (Fri & Sat), A Tribute to Amy Winehouse: Love is Blind @ No Black Tie

Relive the music of Amy Winehouse live through the soulful vocals of Dasha Logan, and the guitar accompaniment of Robin Banerjee, who notably played with the late singer in her live band from 2006 to 2008.

There will be an admission free of RM80. Reserve a spot online here.


12 January (Sat), City Roars! Festival 2019 @ KLPac

Co-curated by local label Soundscape Records and Taiwan’s Emerge Music, the inaugural City Roars! Festival brings together independent artists and musicians from across the region to collaborate and showcase progressive musical ideas and genres under one roof. Featured artistes include The Fin. (Japan), The Landlord’s Cat (China), Jade Eyes (Taiwan), Harunemuri (Japan), Anna Chong (Malaysia) and Straw (Malaysia).

19 January (Sat), Elephant Gym – Under Water World Tour @ Live Fact

Meet Elephant Gym, a bass-driven, math rock band from Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Siblings Tif and Tell play the bass and guitar respectively, while Chia-Chin leads the pulse on drums.

Fono, the off-kilter listening room, rare music library, bar and collaborative space nestled in The Zhongshan Building turns one! 26, 27 & 29 January (Sat, Sun & Tues), Queen of Spades @ Dewan Filharmonik Petronas

The Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra brings the Tchaikovsky opera to life under the baton of Maestro Stanislav Kochanovsky, along with an all-star cast and the Dithyrambic Singers. The carmen-inspired opera was inspired by Alexander Pushkin’s eerie tale of fortune and fate of the same name.
