It was a picturesque scene on Tuesday at The Exchange TRX‘s hottest new spot, Lane 23âthe home of our 2024 BURO Impact Awards end-of-year party. An elegant balloon arch framing our photo wall anchored the space. Then, a luxurious red carpet led to our reception area where 50Gram lapel pins and corsages were neatly arranged across the counter. A softly-lit staircase evoking the gentle shine of fairy lights ended at the edge of the opulent dance floor where sequinned dresses and sharp tuxedos floated across. All was in place for the celebrations to commence.
Not unlike a high school prom night, the BURO Impact Awards is here to celebrate friendships, victories, and the thrill of new beginnings. The nine honourees, expertly selected by our panel of judges comprising actress Siti Saleha, fashion designer Alia Bastamam, model Rubini Sambanthan, and food stylist Trisha Toh, have all played a crucial role in driving meaningful change within their respective industries over the past year. Their passion and innovative spirit embody the promise of a better tomorrow.
Emcee Sarah Lian kicked off the ceremony on a high note, addressing guests who had said âYesâ to our prom-posal, from screen staples like Sharifah Rose and Azrel Ismail to internet personalities like Lisha Ho and Joe Shiang. The microphone then exchanged hands, making way for Editor-in-Chief Jason Lim to deliver a rousing opening speech that prompted glasses of Chivas Regal to raise in unison. It was the perfect prelude to what was to comeâthe winners were announced to loud cheers and presented with trophies and gifts from sponsors Trove and Petit Moi.Â
The festivities didnât end there as a thrilling lucky draw followed, with winners walking away with amazing prizes of three-day, two-night stays at Tanjong Jara Resort as well as two-day, one-night stays at Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur and Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson. And what better way to conclude the unforgettable evening than crowning our own prom king and queen? Creative director Birdy Lee and beauty content creator Khesyinii, who shone brightly throughout the night in their stunning fits, took home limited-edition colourways of a Dyson Airwrap and a Dyson Airstrait, respectively.Â
Rest assured that the remaining guests of BURO Impact Awards 2024 did not go home empty-handed as they were also treated to party favours courtesy of Aesop, Chonky Cookies, Dolce & Gabbana Beauty, Paolo Paolo, Party8, Sun:Day Pilates, and Trove. Those who stayed behind streamed towards the centre of the venue as the lights dimmed down. The beat of iconic hits thumped through the speakers, filling the room with vibrant energy, and the KL elites lost themselves in the music, dancing the night away.
