You don’t want to miss this musical tribute to the legendary Sudirman

Sudirman, mentioned his name and you’ll instantaneously hear his greatest hits like Balik Kampung, Chow Kit Road and more in your head. He may have left us 25 years ago but his legacy leaves on.

The talented singer and songwriter, who was once billed as Asia’s number one performer, had the kind of stage presence that united people from all walks of life and races. His open-air concert at Chow Kit Road in 1986 drew a 100,000-strong crowd that had Kuala Lumpur in a standstill. Such was Sudirman’s charisma that many still fondly remember him till today.

Now to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his passing, a musical called One Thousand Million Smiles, which premiered in 2016, will be held once again in his memory. KLPAC will be hosting the limited run this 27 and 28 October.

Among those who will be paying him honours include Malaysian Idol finalist Nikki Palikat and winner of ntv7’s Audition reality show, Tria Aziz. They will be joined on stage by a full orchestra under the baton of Lee Kok Leong and a five-piece ETA band led by Loh Ui Li. Dato’ Faridah Merican is the director and executive producer, Joe Hasham takes on the role of artistic director while choreography is handled by Melody Tee.

Save the dates – 27 and 28 October – to clap and sing along to Sudirman’s classics. Tickets are on sale now – get it before the show sold our again.
