7 Scary TV shows to binge watch this weekend

1. Penny Dreadful

IMDB: 8.2, Rotten Tomatoes: 93%

Penny Dreadful brings together some of literature’s most terrifying characters—Dorian Gray, Dracula, Dr. Frankenstein and his Creature, to name some—in one dark and compelling storyline. If that’s not enough to reel you in, Eva Green’s brilliant portrayal of the enigmatic and disturbed medium Vanessa Ives probably will.

2. Stranger Things

IMDB: 8.9, Rotten Tomatoes: 94%

The wait is over. Season two of Stranger Things just landed on Netflix today! Will things ever return to normal at Hawkins, or has the Upside Down spread irreversible horror to the real world?

3. The Walking Dead

IMDB: 8.5, Rotten Tomatoes: 82%

Halloween wouldn’t be complete without some zombie action, and there’s no better show to start with than the most popular zombie TV series. The post-zombie apocalypse world of The Walking Dead is currently in its eighth(!) season.

4. American Horror Story

IMDB: 8.2, Rotten Tomatoes: 76%

With a fresh story arc of horror each season, the show is sure to keep you hooked with new scares and thrills. There are seven seasons so far, but if you only really have time for one, we say go for Hotel, the season that scored Lady Gaga a Golden Globe for Best Actress.

5. The Exorcist

IMDB: 8.2, Rotten Tomatoes: 89%

A sequel to the 1973 cult classic of the same name, The Exorcist isn’t quite as terrifying as the film, but it is still quite scary for a primetime TV show. It follows two priests tackling one family’s case of demonic possession.

6. Bates Motel

Another series based of a cult favourite, Bates Motel tells the prequel story of Norman Bates—the mama’s boy/serial killer from Psycho. More a thriller than outright horror, it will make your skin crawl with suspenseful fear tactics and uncomfortable familial relationships.

7. Outcast

IMDB: 7.5, Rotten Tomatoes: 79%

From the creators of The Walking Dead comes Outcast, a series with terrors that will send chills down your spine Based on the comics of the same name by Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta, it revolves around the life of Kyle Barnes, a young man struggling with demonic possession and searching for answers and redemption.
