If anything, 2020 has been an illustrious year for Korean programmes. Running Man celebrated their 10th anniversary since debuting the first episode in July 2010 and shows like Crash Landing On You as well as It’s Okay To Not Be Okay garnered massive global audiences. With popular streaming platforms now blessing fans by featuring more Korean dramas, we’re seeing a whole new generation of viewers.
Taking over the time slot previously occupied by My Unfamiliar Family is the much-anticipated Record of Youth. The 16-episode series—directed by Ahn Gil Ho and written by Ha Myung Hee—stars some of the biggest names in the South Korean entertainment industry. The cast includes Park Bo Gum as Sa Hye Joon, Park So Dam as Ahn Jung Ha, and Byun Woo Seok as Won Hae Hyo.
Fans of Park Bo Gum will be elated to see him in a lead role again after his surprising cameo in the final episode of Itaewon Class. Some of his most popular projects include Love In The Moonlight in 2016 and Reply 1988 in 2015.
Park So Dam—who starred in the Academy Award-winning Parasite—appeared in 2016’s Cinderella and the Four Knights whereas Byun Woo Seok is best known for his portrayal of Do Joon in Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.
Record of Youth takes place in Hannam-dong and revolves around models as well as the fashion industry. Sa Hye Joon and Won Hae Hyo are described as best friends and popular models with desires to make it as successful actors whereas Ahn Jung Ha is a budding makeup artist. The drama highlights contrasting ordeals, family situations, trials, love, and friendship.
Are you excited for Record Of Youth? The first episode will premiere on 7 September 2020 on Netflix (and tvN) at 8pm—with new episodes every Monday and Tuesday.
