Launching today at the G Art Gallery in G Hotel Gurney, ‘Treasures of a Straits Chinese’ is Tiffany Choong’s first solo exhibition. An illustrator and pop artist from Penang, Choong’s work is inspired by her upbringing in a family with strong Chinese traditions as well as modern western influences, with a particular focus on Peranakan culture.
At ‘Treasures of a Straits Chinese’, Choong invites the viewer to rediscover Nyonya motifs in a modern context. For a taste of what’s in store for you, learn about some of these traditional symbols that will be on display at the exhibition below:
‘Treasures of a Straits Chinese’ will run from 1 February to 30 April 2018 at G Art Gallery, Level 1, G Hotel Gurney.
