Bottega Veneta’s Art of Collaboration on display at UCCA, Beijing

From now to 28 June, fashion and photography afficionados will get an up-close look of selected works in the Bottega Veneta’s Art of Collaboration series. The creative work is being presented in an exhibition at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) located in Beijing’s 798 Art District.

The Art of Collaboration project was launched by Tomas Maier in 2001 when he joined Bottega Veneta as its Creative Director. A number of famous photographers and contemporary artists were invited to come together and work on the Italian brand’s campaign for each season.

The ongoing project culminated in 2015 with the release of Bottega Veneta: Art of Collaboration, a coffee table book that chronicles the comprehensive partnership since the beginning.

Featuring every seasonal campaign from 2002 to 2016, the book documents the collaborations between Tomas Maier and all the artists who have contributed to the creation of Bottega Veneta’s advertising portfolio including among others Ralph Gibson, Jack Pierson, Peter Lindbergh, Robert Longo, Nan Goldin, David Artmstrong and Mona Kuhn.

As part of the UCCA’s official programme, the Art of Collaboration exhibition features a special selection of the photographs celebrating fashion, style and craftsmanship.

The exibition will be one of the events in celebration of two milestones for the house—Tomas Maier’s 15th anniversary as Creative Director of the house and the 50th anniversary since its foundation in Vincenza in the Veneto region of Italy.
