The coolest installations at Salone del Mobile 2018

The Labyrinth by Bulgari

Bulgari marks its first appearance at Salone del Mobile with three different creative brand experiences across the city. Located at the Brera Design District was the mesmerising, interactive installation The Labyrinth, whererenown design and architecture icons Iván Navarro & Courtney Smith, MVRDV and Storagemilano translated the brand’s key creative elements—materials, modular and colour—into a spectacular visual adventure.

Open Sky by COS

Inspired by the sky above the Palazzo Isimbardi courtyard and the architecture of Milan, Open Sky is a semi-circular sculptural installation built by Phillip K. Smith as an interaction between architecture and nature. Smith explained: “I wanted to pull the sky to the ground; to actively and seamlessly merge the beauty of the surrounding architecture and the sky over Milan to create an ever-changing experience.”

Limbo by Ferragamo Parfums x Jacopo Foggini

The sparkling, glamourous fragrance that is Amo Ferragamo is reimagined as a sensory cloud in the upper loggia of the Ca’ Granda’s Corte d’Onore. The multi-sensorial experience is an aerial labyrinth made of polycarbonate thread modules that hang from a wooden structure to create a pink dream—this is one limbo we wouldn’t mind getting stuck in.

Built By All by Mini Living

In collaboration with London-based design firm Studiomama, Mini Living builds upon the concept of collaborative architecture, where residents and architects come together to solve the challenges of limited living space. This culminates into a space where personal and community areas are distinct yet intertwined, as residents have the power to choose when their dwellings can be opened up.
